Séduisant exemplaire de cette rare édition avignonnaise du traité de Sacrobosco, pierre angulaire de l'astronomie pré-copernicienne, telle qu'enseignée durant tout le Moyen Âge.
En plus de celui-ci, on connaît 3 exemplaires, tous en institutions britanniques : British Library (8562.c.32), Bodleian Library (cote inconnue) et Corpus Christi College Library (Rare Books Collection delt.15.7(5) (MR.2)). Le présent exemplaire est le seul jamais passé en vente publique, en 1953, que nous ayons retrouvé. Il présente, sur le contreplat, l'ex-libris d'Harrison David Horblit (1912-1988), célèbre collectionneur de livres, manuscrits et photographies. Sa collection de photographies a été confiée par sa veuve à la Hougthton Library d'Harvard, en 1995.

In-4 (192 x 128 mm) de 34 ff. (le dernier blanc), relié. Gravures sur bois dans le texte. Reliure anglaise du XIXe siècle de Lloyd en maroquin bleu nuit. Provenance : annotations marginales anciennes d'au moins deux mains différentes -- Harmsworth, vente 1953 (n°9538, lot n°33) -- peut-être acheté à cette vente par Harrison D. Horblit (1912-1988, ex-libris sur le contreplat).
