"Die Seine ist bekannt dafür, ein herausragendes Merkmal der Tour of France zu sein, da sie sich durch die wichtige Provinz Normandie schlängelt und diese schmückt. Das Werk wurde in sechs Teilen mit jeweils vier Tafeln herausgegeben. In der Geschichte der Buchproduktion "gibt es keine attraktivere Figur als die von Rudolph Ackermann, durch dessen außergewöhnliches Unternehmertum und Abenteuergeist die Aquatinta wurde erfolgreich auf die Illustration von Büchern angewendet "(Prideaux, 120-23).
