Die Oberseite des Deckels ist durchbrochen gearbeitet und zeigt ein sich windendes Chilong-Paar, das von einer Bordüre aus abwechselnden Bagua, den Acht Trigrammen und archaischen Monstermasken umgeben ist. Die Seiten des Deckels und des Räuchergefäßes sind glatt, der äußere Rand des vertieften Sockels zeigt Spuren von Vergoldung und umgibt eine Xuande-Marke.

Die Bagua sind acht Symbole, die in der taoistischen Kosmologie verwendet werden, um die grundlegenden Prinzipien der Realität darzustellen, die als eine Reihe von acht miteinander verbundenen Konzepten gesehen werden. Jedes besteht aus drei Linien, wobei jede Linie entweder "gebrochen" oder "ungebrochen" ist und jeweils Yin oder Yan oder 1 darstellt, die die binären Zahlen 000-111 (0 bis 7) bilden. Die Trigramme stehen im Zusammenhang mit der Taiji- oder Taegeuk-Philosophie, dem Taijiuqan und dem Wuxing oder den "fünf Elementen". Die Beziehungen zwischen den Trigrammen werden in zwei Anordnungen dargestellt, dem ursprünglichen "Früher-Himmel"-Bagua oder "Fu Xi" und dem manifestierten "Später-Himmel"-Bagua oder "King Wen". Die Trigramme haben Entsprechungen in der Astronomie, Astrologie, Geographie, Geomantie, Anatomie, der Familie und anderswo - Leichte Gebrauchsspuren, sehr leicht korrodiert
