A RARE LACQUERED AND PAINTED SOWRD STAND IN FORM OF A STANDING ATTENDANT OF RYUJIN WITH BLADE - Japan, Meiji period - The red-skinned, two-horned demon wears a fanciful shoulder protection and a leaf cloak and apron around the hips and holds a jewel in both hands; a slender dragon winds up the oni's left leg. Dragon and jewel refer to the dragon king Ryûjin and his demonic entourage. A wakizashi with a handle shaped as two rows of petals is tucked into the leafy mount on top of the oni’s head. - Collection Dr. Rainer Kreissl (1924 - 2005) - Important south German private collection, assembled before 1990 - Left foot with repair, few small restorations, minor wear

Der rothäutige gehörnte Dämon, in einen phantasievollen Schulterumhang gehüllt und mit Blattumhang und Schurz um die Hüften, hält in beiden Händen ein Juwel; ein schlanker Drache windet sich das linke Bein des oni hoch. Drache und Juwel verweisen auf das Umfeld des Drachenkönigs Ryûjin und sein dämonisches Gefolge. In den Blattkranz auf dem Scheitel des oni steckt ein wakizashi mit einem Griff bestehend aus zwei Reihen von Blütenblättern.

The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
