SIGNED LUO PIN (1733-1799) - China, dated 1772 - Ink and delicate red color on paper, mounted as a hanging scroll. Travelers in a boat in an autumn shore landscape with a maple tree and grasses. An inscription with a poem to the picture, signature: "In the ninth month of the renchen year (1772) at the Yinxiang Studio in the capital written/painted by Liangfeng Daoren Luo Pin" and an artist's seal: "Liang Feng". Two other seals. The inscription indicated that the poem was written on the occasion of this painting by Tanxi (Weng Fanggang, 1733-1818) during their trip to Luo's studio 'Xiangye Caotang' (in Yangzhou). - From a European private collection, acquired before 1990 Luo Pin (1733-1799), pseudonym Liang Feng ("Two Peaks") was a Chinese painter of the Qing Dynasty. He studied painting under Jin Nong (1687-1764) and painted people, Buddhist images, flowers and landscapes. He was the youngest of the "Eight Eccentrics of Yangzhou" and known for his demon paintings Signs of age, minor wear and soiled, mounting partly damage and repaired
