Fascinante lettre de Soulages à Butor, tout à fait éclairante sur le regard qu'il porte sur sa peinture. Il commence par le remercier pour l'envoi d'un exemplaire de L'Oeil des Saragasses, paru quelques semaines auparavant, et d'autres textes, qu'il vient de lire. "Tels qu'ils sont, ainsi séparés des encres qui les ont inspirés, le plaisir que j'en ai est sans réserve. Ceci parce que je les sens détachés de ce qui fonde, pour moi, depuis toujours, la nécessité de ma peinture, qui se situe hors de toute figuration accidentelle., et qui naît des qualités physionomiques, concrètes, des fromes peintes, de leur jeu complexe. SI l'on ne voit dans une peinture abstraite, que les figurations qui peuvent toujours venir se faire sur toute forme...Ce n'est pas la peinture que l'on voit.
Rapprocher de ces encres vos textes si riches d'une vie qui leur est propre, donnant une interprétation qui occulte ce que je trouve et que certains ont trouvé dans mon tavail. C'est sans doute là la faiblesse de la peinture (figurative ou abstraite), qu'on puisse n'y voir que des images".

Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments.
