Table top with inlaid cube decor. Frame boost. 75x58x58cm, the plate unfolded, 80 x 80cm. Hardware return stamped on 'L'. Condition B.

François Linke was born in 1855 in English Pankraz in Bohemia as the son of a stonemason. At the age of 13, he began an apprenticeship as a carpenter. His journeyman years took him to Prague and to Vienna and then to Budapest. Then Left to spend some time in various German cities, and in the year 1875, for the first time to Paris. In 1877, he decides to stay permanently in Paris. Already in 1881 he opened his own workshop in the rue Faubourg-Saint-Antoine. At the Paris world exhibition in 1900, Left, receives his first gold medal, in the meantime, he was one of the most leading Ebenisten of France. The world fame enjoyed its gilded bronze fittings, the contemporaries as "in the Tradition of Boulle and Cressent"
