Annähernd lebensgroßer Kopf aus dunkelgrauem vulkanischen Stein. Darstellung der Gottheit mit Tiara und aufwendiger Frisur. Auf der Stirn das stilisierte Dritte Auge. Der Rand der Tiara und das rechte Ohr bestoßen, Hals mit unregelmäßiger Bruchkante. Auf hölzerner Plinthe. Höhe des Kopfes 33 cm.

Provenienz: Ex Auktionshaus Nagel, Auktion am 04.04.1992, Los 212. Damaliger Zuschlagpreis 15.000 DM.

A Cambodian stone head of Shiva, Khmer culture, 11th/12th century
The almost life-sized head carved in dark grey volcanic rock. The deity is depicted with a tiara and an elaborate hairstyle. The stylised third eye on her forehead. The edge of the tiara and the right ear knocked, the neck with a jagged fracture line. Mounted on a wooden plinth. Height of the head 33 cm.

Provenance: Formerly Auktionshaus Nagel, auctioned on 4 April 1992, lot 212, where it sold for 15,000 Deutsche Marks.
