Relieftafel Hl. Georg als Drachentöter
Lindenholz, geschnitzt. Querformatige, aus zwei Paneelen zusammengefügte Tafel. Der Hl. Georg auf seinem Pferd in nahezu vollrund geschnitzter Plastizität sich dem Drachen links unter sich zuwendend, mit verzerrtem Gesicht die Lanze in seiner rechten Hand dem Ungetier in den Rachen stoßend. Das sich abwendende Pferd mit der linken Hand fest am Zügel packend. Umrahmt wird die berühmte Szene aus der Vita des Heiligen von einem meisterhaft tief geschnittenen und dadurch in den Vordergrund rückenden Laubbaum auf der einen und einer sich öffnenden Höhle bzw. gemauertem Durchgang, woraus der Drache hervortritt auf der anderen Seite. Dahinter auf einer Anhöhe eine Burg, davor eine kniende, betende Figur. Stil und Ausarbeitung deuten auf einen Umkreis von Johann Peter Schwanthaler (1720 Ried - 1795 ebenda) hin. Die äußerst detailreich geschilderte Landschaft findet sich auch in den Elfenbeinreliefs von Giovanni Battista Pozzo (um 1670-1752) wieder, als Beispiel das "Urteil des Paris" im Grünen Gewölbe in Dresden (Inv.-Nr. VII 139). Oberfläche gereinigt. 32 cm x 44,5 cm. Wohl Originalrahmen.

The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
