Rare plan of the Temple Mount within a decorative border, the top (north) side of which replicates part of an ornamental inscription from the south wall of the Aqsa Mosque, with the other sides being derived from the 16th-century tiles in the Dome of the Rock. ‘Prepared from a survey executed in 1942. The ground-plan of individual buildings where shown, the lower level details of ‘Solomon’s Stables,’ El aqsa, the Single and Triple gates were obtained from a survey completed in 1865 by Capt. Wilson R.E., the ground-plan of the Mosque of El Aqsa being revised to 1943’ (map notes).
Large lithographic map printed in black and sepia, text in English and transliterated Arabic, contours to 4m vertical intervals, enlarged from the 1924 1:2000 survey, to a scale of 1:625, 990 x 690mm (sheet).
