Approx. Ø57mm, approx. 155g, unusual Oignon-housing made of brass, plated with silver, richly decorated with rocaille, reverse with glazed neck with views of the magnificent enamel spindle bridge enameled, very early French work with Central Elevator, Board, signed, a spindle bridge with a very fine enamel magnifying glass painting, mythological scene, gold-plated cartridges-dial, iron hand, passable, rarity! A similar Thuret, also with Emaiilemalerei, was auctioned in Geneva in 2004 (source:https://www.cortrie.EN/go/lgK). Isaac Thuret II (approx. 1630-1706) was one of the greatest watchmakers of his time. The great Leibniz called him "Thuret - the famous watchmaker" and the astronomer Richer claimed that Thuret had "exceeded by its accuracy and the subtlety of his work, all parties Involved in the manufacture of watches and clocks". Thurets activity was intense: The king, the Royal family, the Ministers, the great financiers, and members of the nobility were all of his clients (source: Antiquorum, Exceptional Horological Sale, Geneva April 24, 2004, Lot 230).
