Hans (Jean) Arp ( Strasbourg 1886 - Basel 1966 ) . German-French painter, graphic artist, draftsman, sculptor & Poet. A. began his studies in 1904 at the College of arts and crafts in Strasbourg, but changed in 1905 to the Royal art school in Weimar, where he was from L. von Hofmann taught. In 1908, he was at the Académie Julian in Paris. In 1912, he worked at the almanac of the Blue rider, H. Walden's 'Sturm'. In 1915 he moved to Zurich, where he was the co-founder of the Dada movement. In 1926, he settled permanently in Paris. A. was well-connected & stand with the leading artists of his time, including M. Ernst, K. Schwitters u. P. Mondrian. Be tremendously diverse & creative work has been internationally awarded many times, including the Grand prize of the Biennale of Venice, the Stefan Lochner medal, the Carnegie prize and inclusion in the Legion of honor.
