TWO AMERICAN GOLD CLASPS AND AN AMERICAN SILVER CLASP

18TH/EARLY 19TH CENTURY

All with a sprung wedge with three securing rings to one side and three matching securing rings to the other, the first gold clasp rectangular with cut corners, engraved on the front with foliate monogram MJ, on three later gold chains, possibly mark of John Staniford, Windham, Connecticut, circa 1810; the second gold clasp oval-form, engraved on the front with scrolling foliage, the reverse with monogram AL, apparently unmarked, mid-18th century; the silver clasp oval-form, engraved on the front with a bird with outstretched wings, the reverse with monogram AE, maker’s mark LL in a rectangle, mid-18th century
