Lot 2103Larger-than-life head of a Buddhist figure
Tibet/Nepal. Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).

Bronze repoussé technology, and partly painted with pigments. The head is shown with a calm expression and a soft Smile. The narrow eyes are elongated and curved, the lips as well. Here are also remains of pigments, which point to a careful and detailed painting rich. The ears are shown with extended, through the heavy jewelry slotted lobules. The hairstyle is deposed and by engraved lines of the hair are shown, where the remains of a lapis lazuli-blue paint received. On the back of with jewels decorated headband is still retained and on the forehead of the remainder of a fixture is equal to the urna recognizable. Either a separate urna, or the headband was mounted here.
The neck with the characteristic fold is at the bottom widened for the attachment to the body. This suggests that it is the head of a monumental figure. Height 93cm, width 75cm, depth 72cm. On a frame with Base. Condition B. Damaged, paint partly rubbed off.
