The sculpture comes from a French collection of a noble house (see below), since at least 1967 in the possession of and is evidenced in the records of the collection by means of hand-drawn study - see the figure. The collection of this French aristocratic family goes back to Évariste Regis Huc (1813 – 1860), a French missionary and Explorer, widely known for his Crossings of Mongolia, Tibet and China.
