Iron and sheet iron (blade), painted black, brown and silver, mounted on the top of a Kalashnikov barrel. Height 450 cm, maximum width 140 cm, weight approx. 450 kg. The monument was professionally restored in 2018. Viewing in the Hamburg area by appointment only.
From 1892, almost all officers of the foot and field artillery were trained in the artillery academy in Jüterbog. The barracks were completed by 1902. The Reichswehr and Wehrmacht also trained their artillery officers there until the academy was transferred to Groß Born in Pomerania in 1943, following increased allied air raids. From 1945 to 1994, the Red Army used the barracks in Jüterbog as its most important military base in Germany. Up to 40,000 soldiers are said to have been stationed there, almost three times the population of Jüterbog.
