Lot 4444 | Venus und Amor aus Elfenbein, wohl flämisch, 17./18. Jhdt.
Vorzüglich aus Elfenbein geschnitzte Figur einer liegenden, von Amor überraschten Venus. Die nackte Göttin stützt sich mit einem Arm auf ein gefaltetes Kissen, mit der anderen Hand die Scham verdeckend, nachdem ihr der freche Amor im Vorbeilaufen das Tuch von der Hüfte wegzogen hat. Die beiden Handgelenke des Jungen gebrochen und restauriert, an der rückseitigen Ausschweifung des Tuches eine kleine Fehlstelle. Altersbedingte Haarrisse. Auf der Basis unterseitig ein GC- (oder SC?)-Monogramm erkennbar. Länge 16,5 cm.

Exquisitely carved ivory figure of a reclining Venus surprised by Cupid. The nude goddess propping herself up with one arm on a folded cushion, the other hand covering her pubic area after cheeky Cupid pulled away the cloth from her hips while running past her. Both wrists of the boy broken and restored, the rear part of the cloth with minor flaw. Hairline cracks due to age. On the bottom of the base monogram GC (or SC?). Length 16.5 cm.
The CITES documents with trade permit are included.

The results of the auction are published within a few days after the end of the auction. In the top menu of the site, find the tab "Auctions". Click on it and you will be on the auction catalog page, where you can easily find the category "Results". After opening it, select the desired auction from the list, enter and view the current status of the interested lot.
The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
