Lot 9664 | Vierläufige Signalpistole, Gebr. Rempt

A four-barreled signal pistol, Gebr. Rempt
A four-barreled signal pistol, Gebr. Rempt
Cal. 4 (Signal), SN. 533, Barrel set with four barrels, predominantly bright-bore, the first and third barrel slightly rusty from above at the muzzle, improvable by careful cleaning. Barrel set removable from the top, barrel length 90 mm. Locking mechanism on the left, underneath proof mark crown/"A", eagle and crown/"B", abbreviation "G.R." for Gebrüder Rempt and serial number. The probably original finish of the grip, casing and barrel set almost entirely preserved, partially with signs of handling, especially at the barrel set. The smooth walnut grip panels with normal signs of use. With each squeeze, the "double action" trigger activates the next firing pin, moving in succession from top to bottom. The mechanism seems to work properly.
Of utmost rarity. Only 25 of the 2,500 pistols produced at the end of the First World War are known to exist to this day. Cf. also Wolfgang Kern, "Deutsche Leucht- und Signalpistolen", p. 147 ff.
