Löwenpaar in der afrikanischen Savanne
Dieses naturnah schildernde Gemälde entstand wahrscheinlich in Kuhnerts Berliner Atelier nach vier Ostafrika-Expeditionen, die er in den Jahren 1891/92 bis 1911/12 absolvierte. Kuhnert, der 1883-1887 ein fundiertes Studium an der Berliner Akademie bei dem Tiermaler Paul Friedrich Meyerheim absolvierte, hatte 1891/92 die erste von vier Expeditionen nach Deutsch-Ostafrika unternommen. Die während der Expeditionen entstandenen Studien dienten ihm als Basis für seine oft großen, imposanten Atelier-Bilder. Die stellte er ab 1893 aus und trugen ihm rasch einen Ruf als bedeutender Tiermaler, besonders der afrikanischen Fauna ein. Eines seiner bevorzugten Motive waren Löwen, so dass diese ihm später den Spitznamen "Löwen-Kuhnert" eintrugen. Hierbei schilderte er die Löwen als Paar mit einem Mähnenlöwen und einer Löwin. In den letzten Jahren wurde Kuhnert durch eine Reihe von Retrospektiven gewürdigt, u. a. in der Alten Nationalgalerie in Berlin (2015) und der Schirn Kunsthalle in Frankfurt am Main (2018). After opening it, select the desired auction from the list, enter and view the current status of the interested lot.
The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
