Huang Lixian is currently chairman of the Chunfeng Painting Association, a consultant on the Hong Kong Women's Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Association, an executive director of the Guangzhou Hong Kong Painting and Calligraphy Association, and a director of the Shangmei Art Gallery. Her interest in painting traces back to 1972 when she studied painting under Mr. Li Kelun until 1975 and studied in an evening design course at the Polytechnic University two years later. In addition, she studied successively under the artists Zhao Shao'ang, Yang Shanshen, Ran Maoqin and Liu Kuo-Sung, refusing to inhibit her artistic passions. She has amassed much success in several Chinese artistic disciplines, from learning the Lingnan School of Flower and Bird Painting to modern Chinese ink painting to mastering ink and water rubbing techniques, and back to landscape painting and traditional brush and ink to depict urban figures.
