5 Blatt Farbserigraphien auf verschiedenen Papieren Bis 99 x 62,5 cm (bis 104 x 72 cm) Vier Blätter mit Bleistift signiert. Zwei verso betitelt und mit Monogrammstempel. Exemplar 42/70, 28/70 (2), 10/10. Werkverzeichnis: Ramkalawon 18, 40, 22, 31 Provenienz: Privatsammlung Süddeutschland Kitajs Werke erschließen sich oftmals nicht auf den ersten Blick. In seinem Werk stellt Kitaj fragmentarisch (kunst-)historische, politische, literarische und philosophische Bezüge, Symbole und Motive in oft biografische Zusammenhänge. Seinen Nachnamen verdankt der 1932 nahe Cleveland geborene Kitaj - ein US-Amerikaner mit jüdischen Wurzeln - seinem Stiefvater, einem in die USA emigrierten Chemiker aus Wien. Nach seinem Dienst in der Handelsmarine und der US-Army, studiert er an der Cooper Union in New York, der Wiener Kunstakademie, der Ruskin School of Art in Oxford und am Londoner Royal College of Art. Während seines Studiums in Oxford inspiriert ihn besonders der Bilderatlas von Aby Warburg. Daraus entwickelt er maßgeblich seinen fragmentarisch-collagenartigen Umgang mit verschiedensten Motiven, der auch seine Arbeit während der 1960er Jahre innerhalb der ''School of London'' prägt. Inspiriert von einer Ausstellung Degas' Pastellen im Pariser Petit Palais 1975, nimmt Kitaj die Pastellkreide in sein Repertoire auf. Die Hinwendung zur Zeichnung verändert allmählich auch seine Bildkonzeption. Ab den 1980er Jahren setzt sich Kitaj verstärkt mit Intellektuellen wie Sigmund Freud, Franz Kafka und Walter Benjamin, aber auch mit seiner eigenen jüdischen Identität auseinander. Besonders der Themenkreis der ''jüdischen Diaspora'' wird zum Gegenstand seiner Arbeit. Immer häufiger thematisiert er den heimatlosen modernen Menschen, als den er sich selbst sieht. Der Künstler im Exil, will diesem Heimatsverlust die eigene Kunst entgegensetzen. Aus dieser Idee entwickelt Kitaj eine Kunst des Diasporismus: ''Ganz und gar Amerikaner, im Herzen Jude, zur London School gehörig, verbringe ich meine Jahre weit entfernt von den Ländern, an denen mein Herz hängt [...] In der Diaspora habe ich erfahren, dass man frei ist, alles zu wagen[...] an vielen anderen Orten kann man das nicht.'' Als eine Retrospektive in der Londoner Tate Gallery 1995 auf negative Kritiken stößt und seine zweite Frau unerwartet stirbt, zieht er sich nach Los Angeles zurück. Dort stirbt Ronald B. Kitaj am 21. Oktober 2007.

After opening it, select the desired auction from the list, enter and view the current status of the interested lot.
The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
