Lot 8042 | Zwei bronzene Jochbeschläge mit Satyr, Silen und Ziegen, römisch, Ende 1. - Mitte 3. Jhdt. n. Chr.
Ein Paar gleich gestaltete römische Beschläge vom Joch einer Wagenschirrung. Grundgestell aus oben und unten abgeplattetem Bronzestab mit seitlich fixiertem, halbkreisförmig gebogenem Stab gleicher Stärke. An den Enden je eine Scheibe mit einer Silen-Maske. Auf dem Bogen beidseitig je ein Satyr und ein Silen, die ein angewinkeltes Knie auf das Kreuzbein einer sitzenden Ziege setzen und diese an einem Horn packen. Die Vorderhufe der Ziegen auf die Scheiben mit den Silen-Masken gelegt. Die anatomischen Details der Figuren lebensnah und gut ausgearbeitet, partiell fein nachziseliert. Schöne dunkelgrüne Patina. Länge 13,5 cm. Höhe 8 cm. Außergewöhnlich schöne Jochbeschläge mit lebendiger, dynamischer figuraler Verzierung.
Provenienz: Aus österreichischer Privatsammlung, erworben in den 1970er Jahren im österreichischen Kunsthandel.

A pair of identically designed Roman fittings from the yoke of a chariot harness. Base frame of bronze bar flattened at the top and bottom with a semi-circular bent bar of the same thickness fixed to the side. At each end a disc with a silen mask. On both sides of the bow a satyr and a silen, placing a bent knee on the sacrum of a sitting goat and grasping it by a horn. The front hooves of the goats are placed on the discs with the Silen mask. The anatomical details of the figures lifelike and well worked out, partially finely chiselled. Beautiful dark green patina. Length 13.5 cm. Height 8 cm. Exceptionally beautiful yoke fittings with vivid, dynamic figural decoration.
Provenance: From an Austrian private collection, acquired in the 1970s in the Austrian art trade.

The results of the auction are published within a few days after the end of the auction. In the top menu of the site, find the tab "Auctions". Click on it and you will be on the auction catalog page, where you can easily find the category "Results". After opening it, select the desired auction from the list, enter and view the current status of the interested lot.
The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. In the near future you will find detailed information for each case in the section "Auction information" on the page of the auction catalog and the lot.
Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
