Edmond-Adolphe Rudaux
Edmond-Adolphe Rudaux is a French painter, illustrator and engraver. Known for his depictions of children at the beach. He exhibited for the first time at the Salon in 1863 two still lifes. The following year, he sent the Salon a first genre scene. He then produced hunting and fishing scenes. In 1870, he presented a watercolour, La Petite Curieuse, a fan project at the Salon: it was the beginning of a long series devoted to youth and childhood, a theme that would henceforth mark a large part of his work. . His scenes will quickly become fashionable and are copied during his lifetime. Illustrator of bibliophile books and working for Alfred Mame's publications for young people, he not only draws, he also engraves.
