Erwin Trum

Erwin Trum was a German artist with a unique life story. Raised in an orphanage, he was adopted by a foster father who was openly anti-Nazi. After serving in the French Foreign Legion in Indochina, Trum settled in Metz, where he began to discover his artistic talents.

Erwin Trum's works, often in the form of large diptychs and triptychs, are characterised by profound originality and bear traces of surrealism and action painting. The paintings depict human figures that are both sumptuous and tragic, emphasising the irony of human existence. Troum's works have been exhibited in Lorraine and tapestries he created are permanently exhibited in Metz.
