Sir Godfrey Kneller, 1st Baronet (born Gottfried Kniller) was a late seventeenth- and early eighteenth-century German painter and the leading British portrait painter of his era.
Gottfried Kniller was an immensely popular painter among the English nobility, and over the course of his career he produced hundreds of paintings depicting influential European nobles and royalty.
