James de Rijk
James de Rijk was a Dutch landscape and animal painter. He was a student of Jan van Ravenswaay. In 1826 he undertook a study trip through Belgium and the County of Bentheim with his friend Pieter Frederik van Os. In 1828 he was appointed a member of the Amsterdam Koninklijke Academie van Beeldende Kunsten. From 1838 he was a member of the United Drawing Societies "Door tot Hooger" and "Arti Sacrum" in Rotterdam. He mostly painted landscapes with cows and horses.
