He painted portraits and genre scenes. Together with the painter Valentijn Bing (1812-1895), Überfeldt worked on albums depicting the costumes and customs of the Netherlands, which are visual descriptions of local dress and events such as carnival, ice skating, cheese making, and weddings. In 1875, Uberfeldt translated Felix Philip Kanitz's book, A Guide to the History, Development, and Knowledge of the Most Peculiar Forms of the Principal Ornamental Styles of All Times.
