Lion Schulman
Lion Schulman was a Dutch landscape painter of Jewish descent. Schulman was initially trained as a jeweler by his father. He was then a student of James de Rijk from 1866 to 1873. On the recommendation of "Arti et Amicitiae" he received a royal grant in 1880 for further training with Johannes Hermanus Barend Koekkoek. Schulman opened art salons in Rotterdam, Hilversum and Laren. His son David Schulman helped him in the shop in Laren.
