Piero Sadun

Piero Sadun is an Italian artist and teacher. Born in Siena to a Jewish family, dropped out of high school due to fascist racial laws, graduated privately. Already in his early years, he often visited the city art circles of the Art Institute and the workshop of Umberto Giunti. Then he moved to Florence to take private lessons first with Primo Conti and then with Memo Vagaggini. He returned to Siena, where he opened a workshop and created several works under the pseudonym "Tommaso Duna". In 1945, Sadun moved to Rome, and from 1948 began his teaching career: two years at the Liceo Artistico in Rome, from 1951 to 1953 at the Experimental Center of Cinematography in Rome and from the same year at the Art Institute of Urbino; , in 1969 was appointed the first director of the newly created Academy of Fine Arts in L'Aquila.
