Romain Steppe
Romain Steppe was a Belgian painter, a realistic painter of river landscapes and marines. The sea and the harbor in particular inspired him in his first works, while he discovered a new source of inspiration during his wanderings with Isidoor Meyers in the Scheldeland. He had a preference for atmospheric images in small formats. He also painted in the Limburg Kempen, on the Belgian coast and during his travels through England, France and the Netherlands. He returned to Antwerp in 1887, where in 1888 he became a member of the art association "Als ik Kan", founded by a number of former students of the Antwerp Academy. He painted many atmospheric images in small format in this city.
