Ivan Petrovich Martos (Russian: Иван Петрович Мартос) was a Russian sculptor of the XVIII-XIX centuries, a representative of classicism. He is known as the author of many public and grave monuments, statues, busts and bas-reliefs, distinguished by a perfect harmony of silhouettes and shapes.
Ivan Martos worked with bronze, marble and granite. Among his most famous works are monuments, including the monument to Minin and Pozharsky in Moscow, the Duke of Richelieu - in Odessa, the Emperor Alexander I - in Taganrog, the scientist Lomonosov - in Arkhangelsk.
Ivan Martos devoted more than 50 years to teaching at the Imperial Academy of Arts and educated many famous students.
