Julius Zimmermann
Julius Zimmermann was a German painter of the second half of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. He is known as a historical painter and portraitist.
Julius Zimmermann was born in the family of painting professor Clemens von Zimmermann and studied at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts. His oeuvre includes a whole series of portraits of historical figures, which are now in Bavarian state art collections. These include portraits of Kings Maximilian II and Ludwig I of Bavaria, Queen Maria Theresa and other prominent members of the Bavarian aristocracy.
