Vasily Alexeyevich Vatagin
Vasily Alexeyevich Vatagin (Russian: Василий Алексеевич Ватагин) was a Russian and Soviet artist of the twentieth century. He is known as a graphic artist and sculptor-animalist, scientist and teacher.
Vasily Vatagin used various materials in his work - wood, majolica, marble, ivory, experimented with plastic materials. He created a monument to Andrei Rublev for Moscow, participated in the design of museums and monumental propaganda. Vatagin's work ranges from sculpture of small forms to monumental decoration. He was also engaged in book graphics and wrote the book "The Image of the Animal. Notes of an Animalist."
