Mikhail Matveevich Ivanov (Russian: Михаил Матвеевич Иванов) was a Russian artist of the last third of the 18th - early 19th centuries. He is known as a painter, watercolorist and teacher, one of the founders and main masters of Russian landscape painting of his time.
During his career Mikhail Ivanov created a lot of watercolors with views of various places and towns, which are distinguished by great accuracy and poetry. He introduced genre scenes into classical landscape compositions. The artist was also the author of battle watercolors, created during the Russian-Turkish war of 1787-1791, and portraits.
