Pino Pascali is an Italian sculptor, conceptual artist, graphic designer and stage designer, one of the forerunners of the art povera style.
He studied scenography at the Academy of Art in Rome, then worked in television as a designer and cameraman, and at the same time experimented with different materials.
Pascali began to create colorful works influenced by pop art in different styles and media. He used old cans, plastic brushes, fake fur, colored water, hay, mud... One of Pascali's most impressive works is Bridge (1968), an eight-meter bridge made of steel sponges.
Bartolomeo Passerotti was an Italian painter of the mannerist period, who worked mainly in his native Bologna.
He influenced many Bolognese who would later play a role in the rise of the Baroque. Annibale Carracci (whose brother Agostino studied with Passerotti) was influenced by Passerotti's genre scenes in a select set of paintings (such as The Beaneater and The Butcher's Shop, the latter being originally attributed to Passerotti). Lucio Massari and Francesco Brizzi were among his pupils. Three of Passerotti's sons, including Ventura (1566–1618), Aurelio (1560–1609) and Tiburzio, were painters.
Giovanni Francesco Gessi was an Italian Baroque painter, one of the greatest masters of the Bolognese school of painting in the first half of the 17th century. Around 1607 he was an apprentice in the studio of Guido Reni. Together with his teacher he worked in Rome, Mantua and Ravenna.
During his apprenticeship Giovanni Francesco Jesse studied different artistic movements in contemporary Italy (around 1600), in particular those of the Bolognese and Neapolitan schools, and was able to create his own, original style by combining them and their mutual influence. He painted mainly on religious themes, but also on mythological subjects.
