Stefan Kürten is a German artist and musician who lives and works in Düsseldorf.
Kürten's paintings depict the environment we create in our persistent attempts to make life perfect. Chic mid-century homes, picturesque bungalows, meticulously manicured landscapes and resort architecture testify to the dazzling promise of economic prosperity in the West after World War II. They are bright, clean, thoughtfully designed, safe and happy places. But there is no room for man, and gradually nature takes over.
Stefan Szczesny is a German expressionist painter, draftsman and ceramic sculptor, co-founder of the Neue Wilde movement.
Szczesny's vivid paintings and figurative works are inspired by the spirit of the Caribbean and the colorful, sensual Mediterranean way of life. One of his famous works is Living Planet.
The talented and versatile artist has also worked on the entire island of Mainau: he has created numerous ceramics of various shapes and sizes, large glass steles and many other objects, including a bridge and a painted NT airship, turning the island into a real work of art.
Heinrich Steinhagen, full name Heinrich August Friedrich Johannes Steinhagen, was a German painter, graphic artist and sculptor.
Heinrich began as a self-taught painter with paintings and miniatures in Impressionist and Expressionist styles. He also worked with elements of Cubism and Dadaism and eventually arrived at simplistic monumentality. Steinhagen was a co-founder of the Hamburg Secession and a member of the Hamburg Artists' Association. In 1937, Steinhagen, like many other artists, was persecuted during the Nazi campaign and spent several months in a concentration camp in 1944. This undermined his health and in 1948 he died of lung cancer.
Heinrich Steinhagen's creative legacy amounted to about a thousand works: oil paintings, pen and ink drawings, etchings, watercolors, woodcuts and sculptures in glazed clay, stone and wood.
Klaus Kinold is a German architectural photographer.
Klaus Kinold studied architecture at the Technical University of Karlsruhe with Egon Eiermann, and then decided not to build but to show architecture. He opened an architectural photography studio in Munich and studied panoramic photography. For more than 25 years, Kinold was editor and illustrator of the Swiss professional publication KS Neues, which featured silicate brick buildings, and lectured on photography at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart.
In 1983, Klaus Kinold had his first solo exhibition at the Rudolf Kieken Gallery in Cologne, followed by many other prestigious shows. From 2019 to August 2020, the DKM Museum in Duisburg designed the exhibition "Architecture through the eyes of a photographer", featuring the work of architects Carlo Scarpa, Rudolf Schwarz and Hans Döllgast.
Kinold documented almost all of the famous architects' projects. It was important to the photographer that his preferably black and white photographs were clear, objective, rational and factual in their presentation.
