Tal Rosenzweig, known as Tal R, is a Danish contemporary artist of Israeli origin.
Tal R studied painting at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. In 2001 he received a studio grant from the city of Mönchengladbach. Since 2005 Tal R has been teaching at the Dusseldorf Academy of Art.
Lucian Michael Freud was a British painter and draughtsman, specialising in figurative art, and is known as one of the foremost 20th-century English portraitists. He was born in Berlin, the son of Jewish architect Ernst L. Freud and the grandson of Sigmund Freud. Freud got his first name "Lucian" from his mother in memory of the ancient writer Lucian of Samosata. His family moved to England in 1933 to escape the rise of Nazism. From 1942 to 1943 he attended Goldsmiths College, London. He served at sea with the British Merchant Navy during the Second World War.
William Kenneth Armitage was a British sculptor known for his semi-abstract bronzes.
Arshile Gorky was an Armenian-American painter who had a seminal influence on Abstract Expressionism. He spent the last years of his life as a national of the United States. Along with Mark Rothko, Jackson Pollock and Willem de Kooning, Gorky has been hailed as one of the most powerful American painters of the 20th century. The suffering and loss he experienced in the Armenian genocide had crucial influence at Gorky’s development as an artist.
