A PAIR OF CHARLES II SILVER CANDLESTICKS
MAKER'S MARK JG IN MIRRORED CYPHER, PROBABLY FOR JEAN-GERARD COOQUS, CIRCA 1675
On square bases cast and chased with swags of fruit and with cherub heads issuing ribbons at corners all on a matted ground and with band running laurel above, the square stems rising from cast flanges of conforming decoration, the stems cast and chased with vertical panels of foliage and scrolls and applied with laurel mid-ribs, the tops with cast cherub heads and acanthus rims, bases with traces of a Baron's coronet and wolf passant crest, marked thrice on lower stems under flanges, undersides of foot rims hatch numbered
7 5/8 in. (19.4 cm.)

The crest is possibly that of Arundell for Henry Arundell, 3rd Baron Arundell of Wardour (1607-1694).
