CRICK, Francis (1916-2004). Typed letter signed (“Francis” and in type “F.H.C. Crick”) to Leonard Hamilton, 2 May 1967.

One half page, 252 x 205mm. On Laboratory of Molecular Biology letterhead, University Postgraduate Medical School, Cambridge.

Arranging details for the upcoming Cold Spring Harbor symposium and mentioning Max Perutz. In full: “Could I stay with you for the night of Wednesday 7th June? The Cold Spring Harbor Symposium finishes at lunch time of that day. I ought to spend the night of Thursday 8th June in New York as I am going to a meeting there which starts early on Friday morning. / Max is not back yet but I will talk to him about the matter you telephoned me about as soon as he returns.” Max Perutz was the founder of the Molecular Biology Unit at Cavendish Laboratory and the one who had hired both Crick and Watson. He also won a Nobel Prize in 1962, shared with John Kendrew, for their studies of the structures of hemoglobin and myoglobin.
