Second Edition, extensively revised. McIlvaine A7(c). Octavo. (Tanned.)  Original blue pebble cloth, spine and upper cover decorated and lettered in dark blue, publisher’s device stamped in dark blue (light edge wear, hinges splitting, spine slightly faded); original pictorial dust-jacket (soiled, a few stains and short tears, corners and spine ends slightly frayed).

— The Play’s the Thing. Boston: Gilbert Miller [n.d., but 1927]. 
Sole edition. No other copy traced.  Octavo. Six in-text illustrations by Ralph Barton (light stain to upper edge). Original wrappers printed in yellow, black and white with illustration by Barton (extremities lightly worn); housed in modern portfolio and black half morocco slipcase, spine lettered in gilt.

— Sam The Sudden. London: Methuen & Co. Ltd., 1925. 
First edition. McIlvaine A35(a). Octavo. (Some spotting.) Original red cloth, upper cover and spine with title stamped in black, untrimmed (head- and tailcap bruised and sunned, endpapers browned); original dust-jacket with design by Frank Marston (heavily restored and reinforced with several areas supplied in facsimile).

Original red cloth, spine and upper cover lettered in black, spine and lower cover with publisher’s device stamped in black, top edge stained red (tiny split at foot of upper joint); original dust-jacket with illustrations by Abbey (two short closed tears to lower panel).

First English edition. McIlvaine A20(b). Octavo. (Light scattered spotting.) Original brown cloth, spine and upper cover titled and ruled in black, publisher’s device stamped in blind on lower cover (extremities lightly rubbed, spine lightly tanned). Provenance: Frits Menschaar (no internal evidence of provenance).

First edition. McIlvaine A16(a). Octavo. 16 leaves of publisher’s ads at end, leaves untrimmed (light spotting, occasional tiny marginal tears and chips, larger in one leaf). Original red cloth, spine lettered and decorated in gilt, upper cover titled and with boarder in blind (extremities lightly rubbed, slightly cocked, spine faded). Provenance: later gift inscription (front free endpaper ‘To Stanley with much love and good wishes for the Xmas & the New Year, from Auntie Nellie and Uncle Gerry 1923’).

Original orange cloth, spine and upper cover lettered and with illustration stamped in brown, spine and lower cover with publisher’s device stamped in brown (lacking dust-jacket, a little soiled, light edge wear). Provenance: Frits Menschaar (no evidence of provenance).

First edition. McIlvaine A72(a). Octavo.  One integral leaf of ads at end (light marginal spotting). Original red cloth, spine with title and lower cover with publisher’s device stamped in black; original dust-jacket with illustration by Frank Ford (light marks and edge wear, short closed tear to lower panel). Provenance: Frits Menschaar (no internal evidence of provenance).
