Original brown cloth, spine and upper cover lettered in gilt (slightly cocked, headcap bruised, trivial marks). Provenance: James H. Heineman (biographer to Wodehouse; bookplate) — Frits Menschaar (no internal evidence of provenance).

First edition. McIlvaine A17(a). Octavo. 15 leaf insert of publisher’s ads at end (scattered spotting). Original brown cloth, upper cover with titles blind-stamped, spine decorated and lettered in gilt (extremities lightly rubbed, small damp-stain and a few marks to covers, spine a touch faded). Provenance: Henry Ernest Wodehouse (father of author; inscription to half-title, dated ‘Cheltenham 1914’).

Provenance: Frits Menschaar (no internal evidence of provenance) —loosely inserted newspaper clipping of Evening Standard Thursday 24 September 2009 with article ‘In The Steps of The Master: Bertie Wooster’s Mayfair life is moulded around PG Wodehouse’s own London Haunts’, by Harry Mount.
