Provenienz: Privatbesitz, Baden-Württemberg. - Max Ackermann fand bereits Anfang der 1930er Jahre zur abstrakten Malerei. Von den Ideen seiner Lehrer Hölzel und Baumeister beeinflusst, entwickelte er eine heitere und farbenfreudige Malerei mit einem ganz eigenständigen Charakter. Von Anfang an begegneten sich in seiner Malerei die malerischen und grafischen Elemente. Anders als viele seiner Künstlerkollegen war Ackermann nicht ursprünglich vom Expressionismus geprägt. Seine Überlegungen kreisten um musikalische, farbharmonische Klänge, zielen auf Ausgewogenheit zwischen statischen und dynamischen Kompositionsprinzipien, auf "Polarität und Synthese".So äußerte sich Max Ackermann 1962: "Die erste Kraft ist die Farbe. Die Farbe an und für sich kommt vom Spektrum her, in dem ungezählte Farbklänge enthalten sind. Je nach Einfall werden die zu ihm stehenden Klänge aus dem Spektrum herausgezogen.
