Rare first edition of this work on marine life by the naturalist and mycologist Giovanni Antonio Battarra, a monk from Rimini known for his studies on the area's fungi.
4to (283 x 207mm). Title with engraved vignette depicting a lynx, an owl and mushrooms, 4 numbered and engraved plates, followed by another engraved plate depicting two crabs (cut out and glued) with the words: "Adm. Reu. Fr Angelo Franchio Ord. Pred. Historie Naturalis Culiori eximio Iconem hanc I. S. amicus P.P.P." (some light stains and spotting). Later boards.
