Lot 8054 | Bunt glasierte Schale mit Standring, spätbyzantinisch, 12. - 14. Jhdt. n. Chr.
Schale mit markantem, hartem Umbruch knapp oberhalb der Mitte. Hoher, sich konisch nach oben verjüngender Standring, dessen Fuß leicht nach außen gestellt ist. Darüber Unterteil der Schale, das ungefähr im 45-Grad-Winkel zum scharfen Umbruch hin verläuft. Dieses außen nur beige glasiert. Im Inneren bunt mit brauner und grüner Farbe, die über einer Ritzverzierung mit Spiralen Akzente setzt (Spiralen in den Quadranten eines durch ein Kreuz aufgeteilten Kreises). Darüber das leicht konisch nach innen verlaufende Oberteil mit leicht nach schräg oben ausgestellter Randlippe. Dieses innen und außen mit Ritzverzierung und Glasur in den gleichen Farben versehen. Außen Ranken, innen ein Zickzack-Muster zwischen zwei ringsum verlaufenden Linien. Höhe 10,2 cm, Durchmesser ca. 14 cm.
Abgesehen von vereinzelten kleinen Abplatzungen der Glasur ausgezeichnet erhalten und intakt. Schönes und repräsentatives Stück spätbyzantinischer Töpferware.

Bowl with a distinctive, hard break just above the centre. High, conically tapering ring stand ring, the base protruding slightly outwards. Above which, the lower section of the bowl extends towards the sharp break at an angle of approximately 45 degrees. The outside of this section glazed in beige only. The inside coloured with brown and green highlights, which stand out above an ornament incised with spirals (spirals in the quadrants of a circle divided by a cross). Above which, the upper part tapering slightly inwards, the rim slanting slightly upwards. The outer and inner rims embellished with incised decoration and glaze in the same colours. Tendrils on the outside, the inside with a zigzag pattern set between two horizontal lines. Height 10.2 cm, diameter approximately 14 cm.
Apart from occasional minor spalling of the glaze, in fine condition and intact. A beautiful, distinguished piece of Late Byzantine earthenware.
Provenance: Westphalian private collection, acquired in the Rhenish art trade during the 1990s.

After opening it, select the desired auction from the list, enter and view the current status of the interested lot.
The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
