Post lot text
After studying at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs, French artist Camille Henrot set up her studio between Berlin and New York. She travelled between several mediums to revisit the different facets of the individual, in his or her particularity within a social group. The series of sculptures Endangered Species, of which Ford Puma is a part, expresses her fascination with the reinvention of history, the shifting of signs, the creation of myths. The car engine parts with which the sculptures are made thus give way to African-inspired silhouettes that defy the codes of reality.
Camille Henrot's work has been the subject of several solo and biennial exhibitions and has been awarded numerous prizes, including a nomination for the Marcel Duchamp Prize in 2010, the Silver Lion at the Venice Biennale in 2013, the Nam June Paik International Media Art Award in 2014 and the Edward Munch Prize in 2015.
