Exemplaire en reliure de l’époque de Thouvenin et les planches coloriées à la main. Architecte, peintre, aquarelliste et graveur, Castellan, élève du peintre paysagiste Valenciennes, fit plusieurs voyages, en Suisse, en Italie et dans l'Empire ottoman. Peintre de la mission de l'ingénieur Ferregeau auprès du sultan Sélim III, il séjourna plusieurs mois à Constantinople en 1797. Au gré de ses déplacements dans la ville, Castellan dessinait tout ce qui s'offrait à ses yeux. Il se fit aussi portraitiste de la bonne société stambouliote qu’il retranscrivit dans les nombreux ouvrages qu’il publia à son retour en France. 6 vol. in-18 (134 x 81 mm). Édition originale. 72 gravures sur cuivre, dont 6 frontispices, coloriées à la main. Sans l’ « Avis au relieur » et le feuillet relatif à l’orthographe des mots arabes, mentionnés uniquement par Colas, et qui manquent souvent (rousseurs et piqûres, fréquents reports des planches). Reliure de l’époque, attribuable à Thouvenin (seul le T. VI, au décor du dos légèrement différent, est signé) : maroquin rouge à long grain, frise de palmette et rosaces aux angles en encadrement des plats , dos lisses ornés aux petits fers avec éléments quadrilobés mosaïqués de maroquin bleu nuit, roulette dorée sur les coupes, gardes de papier marbré, tranches dorées (légers frottements aux coins et à certaines coiffes).
Provenance : Robert Beauvillain (ex-libris gravé par Charles Jouas en tête du t. I). La mention « Et Beauvillain ? Toujours il vous aime », provient de Marion de Lorme (Victor Hugo).
First edition, this copy with all the plates with contemporary handcolouring, in contemporary red morocco by Thouvenin.

First of all, you should register to be able to purchase at auction. The results of the auction are published within a few days after the end of the auction. In the top menu of the site, find the tab "Auctions". Click on it and you will be on the auction catalog page, where you can easily find the category "Results". After opening it, select the desired auction from the list, enter and view the current status of the interested lot.
The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. In the near future you will find detailed information for each case in the section "Auction information" on the page of the auction catalog and the lot.
Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
