Meisterin der Licht- und Metallkunst
Die griechische Künstlerin Chryssa hat durch ihre innovative Auseinandersetzung mit Materialien und modernen Medien die Welt der bildenden Kunst nachhaltig geprägt. Sie ist eine der ersten ihrer Zeit, die das Neonlicht für ihre Skulpturen und Installationen als starke Ausdrucksform nutzt. Während elektrisch leuchtende Röhren in den 1960er Jahren als Reklame dienen, reißt Chryssa das Leuchtmaterial aus dem alltäglichen Leben und setzt es in eine neue Dimension der künstlerischen Formsprache.
Die 1933 in Athen geborene Künstlerin beginnt 1954 ein Studium an der École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, an der sie zunächst die Techniken der klassischen Malerei und Bildhauerei erlernt. Schnell verschlägt es sie aber in die New Yorker Kunstszene, die ihr durch die moderne Industriegesellschaft die Inspiration gibt, ihre Arbeit mit technologischer Ästhetik zu verbinden. Chryssas innovativer künstlerischer Ansatz nimmt erfolgreich die Konzepte der Pop-, Konzept- und Minimalismus-Bewegung vorweg. Ihre bahnbrechende Verwendung von Neon, Stahl, und Aluminium zusammen mit kommerziellen Elementen der Beschilderung leiten eine neue Ära der Kunstformen ein.

Die Verschmelzung von Mensch und Maschine
Die monumentale Skulptur "Automat" von 1965 stammt aus der Zeit, in der Chryssa für ihre wuchtigen mechanischen Arbeiten mit Neon, Aluminium, Stahl und Plexiglas bekannt wird. Die Neonarbeit stellt den Einfluss der Technologie auf den Menschen dar und spiegelt das semiotische Potenzial der Sprache. Durch die Zusammensetzung von Fragmenten der Sprache wird hier bewusst eine offene Botschaft hinterlassen, die den Betrachter gedanklich an das Werk fesselt. Die klaren Strukturen der kraftvoll leuchtenden Neonröhren laden den Betrachter durch Ihre dynamische Zusammensetzung dazu ein, sich ebenfalls dynamisch zum Werk zu verhalten.

Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
