PARKER, Charles “Charlie,” Jr. (1920-1955).

Handbill for an informal dance with music by Charlie Parker, given by the Athletic Committee of the George P. Davis Post No. 116 of the American Legion at Livingston Manor, Brooklyn, New York, on 29 August 1947. Printed in black on pale green paper stock, 226 x 150 mm. Provenance: The Norman R. Saks Collection (Vail, pl.62).

[With:] a concert programme and ticket for Charlie Parker and Roy Eldridge at the Stockholms Konserthus on Monday 20 November 1950, the first night of Parker’s brief but legendary tour of Sweden. The programme 145 x 203 mm, the ticket 69 x 75 mm. Provenance: The Norman R. Saks Collection (Vail, pl.103-4).

[And:] four pre-prepared press releases for performances or appearances by Charlie Parker, issued by the Gale Agency in New York, 5pp. mimeographed typescript, stapled together with a pictorial cover sheet, c. 1949. Provenance: Ralph G. Gleason (1917-1975; American music critic).
