Concert handbill for ‘A Concert of Concerts’ presented by the Guardsmen of Pittsburgh at the Syria Mosque on Wednesday 3 May 1950, featuring George Shearing & his Quintet at the top of the bill, with ‘The Phenomenal King of the Alto Sax: Charlie Parker & his Orchestra’; together with an original programme for the concert.

Handbill printed in black on tan paper stock, 226 x 152 mm; the programme 229 x 152 mm, wire-stitched in salmon pink textured card wraps. Provenance: The Norman R. Saks Collection (Vail, pl.102 & 51).

[With:] a souvenir weekly showbill for Charlie Parker at the Town Casino, Buffalo, New York, the week of 19 February 1951. Printed in blue and pink on light card stock, 315 x 219 mm, folding to 157 x 219 mm. Provenance: The Norman R. Saks Collection (Vail, pl.31).

[And:] a small letterpress handbill for Charlie Parker and his All Stars at Reynolds Hall, Philadelphia, 4 November 1951, 129 x 76 mm. Provenance: Chan Parker – The Norman R. Saks Collection (Vail, pl.19). Literature: Parker and Paudras, 75 (illustrated).
