Rare concert handbill for ‘A Musical Night to Remember’ at Carnegie Hall, New York, on 26 September 1953, featuring Stan Kenton ‘America’s #1 Modern Man of Music’, Billie Holiday ‘The One and Only Lady Day’, Charlie Parker ‘Yard Bird’, Dizzy Gillespie ‘The King of Be Bop’, and ‘The Amazing Bud Powell trio’, printed in red and green on light tan paper, 233 x 152 mm. This extraordinary line-up came together for two shows on one night only. Provenance: The Norman R. Saks Collection (Vail, pl.48).

[With:] a programme for Stan Kenton’s Festival of Modern American Jazz tour, featuring Candido, Charlie Parker, Erroll Garner and Trio, Lee Konitz, Dizzy Gillespie, and June Christy, January-February 1954, original red printed wrappers, wire-stitched as issued, 303 x 226 mm. Provenance: The Norman R. Saks Collection (Vail, pl.91).

[And:] a programme for Norman Granz’ Jazz at the Philharmonic tour featuring headliners Sarah Vaughan and Charlie Parker, April-May 1948, 267 x 214 mm.
